I assume most of these are professional conversions from when new? At least on full sized cars, I know there was a market for large US cars down unda for a long time.

no, a lot were used imports in 70's & 80's, some have found to be poorly converted

I’ve seen period advertising for RHD large USA Fords in OZ, especially LTDs and Thunderbirds.

Maybe not surprising that these cars had demand at the time, as there were no real alternatives for a large V8 car, American cars of the era were still generally competent, and as Oz has been called Arkansas with a beach, there’s plenty of room to drive and park a barge.
